Are my credit card details stored on your site?

No, we don’t store any credit card information.

Does Boldfaced share my email address?

No. We’ll never share, sell, or spam your email address. Promise.

I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?

Click the “Forgot password?” link on the sign-in page. We’ll send you instructions via email.



Can I order by phone?

No, but you can order day or night on our website. Convenient, right?

Can I change my order after it has been placed?

Depending on what stage of the process your order is at, we might be able to modify it. Contact us, and we’ll do our best!

Is there sales tax on my item?

The amount of tax you’re charged depends on the product you’re ordering and where you're located. All Canadian customers will be subject to GST or HST. You’ll be able to see tax totals before you complete the checkout process.

When does Boldfaced charge my credit card?

We charge cards immediately and expect orders to be packaged and shipped within 3-5 business days. Any exceptions will be noted (pre-orders, custom orders etc.).

How long does it take to receive an order?

Delivery times will vary.

US Customers: Shipments to the United States will be sent every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Orders placed before 1pm EST on those days will ship that day. From there your order will be with USPS the following day. Most deliveries take 3 business days to be received from that point. Priority mail express is available for an extra fee. Contact us for more information.  

Canadian Customers: All packages will be sent via Canada Post. Most lighter items will go regular mail and delivery times can vary between 6-8 business days. Larger parcels will go Expedited and delivery times vary depending on where you are located. Contact us for more information. 

International Orders: Most packages will be sent oversize letter mail. Delivery times vary depending on the time of year but on average should be between 10-14 business days. Contact us if you need faster shipping and we can provide you with a quote. 

What are your payment options?

We accept VISA and MasterCard and Paypal.

An item I want is out of stock. Can I put it on back order?

Sadly, no. But you can check back periodically for the item or send us an email to be notified when it is back in stock. 

How long can I keep items in my shopping cart?

You can keep items in your shopping cart for as long you’d like. But that doesn’t mean a product is reserved, so it may sell out while you have it in your cart.

Are all prices in US dollars?

Yes, they sure are. Canadians, you can view the site in CDN using the current exchange rate, however, please note that your card will be charged in USD. 

I have an offer code. How do I use it?

Just enter the code in the offer code field when you’re checking out, and we’ll automatically apply it to your order. Offer codes cannot be combined.

I forgot to enter my offer code. Now what?

Send us an email and we’ll sort it out.


Shipping and returns

Does Boldfaced ship outside North America?

We just added international shipping for customers outside of North America. Please note that we try to keep shipping costs down which often means that there are no tracking numbers with International orders. Orders to the US will have USPS tracking numbers. If you wish to get a tracking number contact us for pricing. 

Does Boldfaced work with a standard shipping company?

We use Canada Post for Canadian and International orders. USPS for US orders. 

How do I know if my product has shipped?

When a product ships, we’ll send you an email to let you know. 

What if my shipping address is different from my billing address?

No big deal. When you check out, you’ll have the option to fill out both your shipping and billing addresses. If you’re buying a gift for someone, enter their address in the shipping section.

How are shipping costs determined? What are the rates?

Shipping costs are determined by the weight of your total order and where you live. Shipping is applied during the checkout process. If you have questions about your order, you can send us an email.


Will I be charged additional brokerage fees?

Brokerage fees depend on where you live and the value of your order. We try our best to cover all costs, but please contact us if you have additional questions.

I wasn’t home when my package was delivered. Now what?

Where do items ship from?

All products ship from Calgary, Canada.

How will my order be delivered?

By default, all of your orders will be delivered by ground. But you can arrange custom shipping by contacting us.

How long does it typically take for my order to be packaged and shipped? (this does not refer to delivery time)

We do our best to get them out within a day or two but sometimes life happens but we promise to ship within 3-5 business days. Exceptions to that are customised products that can take longer.  

How do I return an item?

Can I return an item?

Yes. Please contact us first to provide you information on how to return the item to us. Returns will be processed once we have received the item back. Please note that custom orders are non-refundable.  

What if I want to return an item that was purchased with an offer code?

We’ll issue you a new code for the same amount.

Do I have to pay shipping on returns?

Yes, you do have to cover shipping on returned items unless the item is damaged and we’re issuing an exchange.

My item was damaged during shipping. How do I exchange it?

When and how do I get my typefaces after I buy them?

As soon as your order has been processed, a download button will appear on your order page. You can download and install it from there.

How do I install my typeface on a Mac? PC?

Download and save the font file somewhere you can easily find it.

If you’re using a Mac:

  1. Locate the typeface you want to install. It will only have one file.
  2. Double click on the hard disk icon.
  3. Double click on the library folder icon.
  4. Double click on the fonts folder icon.
  5. Highlight and drag the .otf file into the fonts folder.

You might want to relaunch any programs you have running to ensure the font shows up in the menu.

If you’re using a PC:

  1. You’ll need Adobe Type Manager (ATM), version 4.1 or later, to install on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT. You can download it here (it’s free):
  2. Launch ATM (start>programs>Adobe>Adobe Type Manager)
  3. Under the C:\ drive menu, navigate to where you initially saved your typeface and click on the file.
  4. The typeface(s) should now appear in the window on the left.
  5. Select the typeface you want to load and click on the “Add” button.

You can also open the folder containing the new typeface. Then right click on the typeface you’d like to install and click “Open.” A preview screen will pop up. Select “Install” at the top left of the window, and you’re done.

That’s it. You may want to relaunch any programs you have running.

What is OpenType?

OpenType fonts are cross-platform, which means you can use the same file on a Mac or a PC. It also means they come with an extended set of characters, or “alternates” that you can play around with, making your design even more amazing.

What software do I need to access OpenType features?

To access the advanced features of your new typeface, you’ll need an OpenType-savvy application like Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or Quark XPress (version 7 or later). Within each of these, you can access the glyph palette, which allows you to play around with the various alternates included with the typeface.

What about Photoshop, you ask? Well, although it’s primarily a photo-editing platform, you can still access many of the alternates using the OpenType options in the character palette.

While OpenType fonts will work in applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you will not be able to access the extra characters or features.

How do I access all the alternate characters in Adobe Creative Suite?

If you’re using InDesign or Illustrator:

All of your ligatures are in your glyph palette. To find it, go to your menu bar. Under the Type menu, select “Glyphs.” This will open a window displaying all the alternates for your selected typeface. Double click on the option you want to try and it will automatically drop into your document. If you want to replace character by character, create your copy, select the letter or combination of letters you’d like to swap out, and open the palette. Only the alternates for your selection will display.

Finding alternates is more of a trial-and-error process when you’re using the character palette. First, highlight the text you’d like to swap. Go to your menu bar and under the Window menu, open up the character palette. Click on the icon of the tiny triangle with four lines next to it. In the first window that pops up, hover over “OpenType.” In the second window, select or deselect “Contextual Alternates.” If the character you selected has alternates, they will change.

What if I lose my typeface file for some reason (computer malfunction)? Can I come back and get the file again?

Definitely. Just send us an email and we can reactivate the download link as long as the typeface is in your order history.

I bought my typeface on my work computer, but want to use it on my home computer. How does that work?

Easy. Just forward your email confirmation that says your download is ready. You can then click on that link and download the zip file to your home computer.  

How does type licensing work?

It’s determined by the individual type foundry. Be sure to read the end user license agreement on the typeface product page before making your purchase.

Okay, but what are the general rules and limitations of a type license?

Here’s what you’re allowed to do:

  • You can install the file in up to 5 computers that belong to you. (The number of allowed users is determined by the typographer or foundry, and will be listed in their license agreement.)
  • You can use the typeface in designing or creating images for websites or print materials, packaging, stationery, documents and presentations, merchandise, samples, tests, comps, and layouts.
  • You can use the typeface for your personal or non-commercial use.
  • You can embed the typeface in a non-editable PDF for the purpose of delivering a design to a service bureau or printer.

Here’s what you’re not allowed to do:

  • You may not post the typeface as a downloadable file anywhere on the Internet.
  • You may not use the typeface in online e-card or greeting card software or websites.
  • You may not use the typeface as a template, or embed it dynamically in a game, website, online document, or device.
  • You may not rent, lease, sell, repackage, or sub-license the typeface or make copies for anyone else.
  • You may not use the typeface in any manner that allows the end user to interact or manipulate it in any way.
  • You may not modify the typeface (because it is considered software), or include any part of it in another product.

The software and materials are copyrighted and belong to the foundry that owns the typeface.

How do I get the file to 5 computers?

We suggest you download and save the file then either zip it and email it, or use a file-sharing service to securely transfer the file to your other licensed users.

Are my friends covered by my 5-user license?

No, the 5-user license only applies to computers within the same company.

Can I return a typeface?

No. Unfortunately, digital goods are final sales.
