Hummingbird was inspired partly by the writing on cakes (with those syrupy gel pens) and partly by — what else? — hummingbirds. It’s reminiscent of old-fashioned cursive penmanship, and Laura’s intention was to capture the “unintentional variations in pressure, contrast, and fluidity.” Hummingbird uses technical sophistication to create a typeface that’s airy, personal, and as innately and intimately human as handwriting.
Two weights (regular and bold), with plenty of OpenType features, including 214 contextual alternates and 266 swashes.
